Of life and House podfics

Finished high school, started taking driving lessons, possibly passed all my matura exams-- life couldn't be better.

Unfortunately, it isn't.

You know, when you have lots of things to do, you're complaining that you have no free time to do the things you love to do. And when you finally have time-- lots of time, actually four months for doing nothing-- it's not fun anymore. First few days, yeah. But later?

I thought that when I finish school I will finally do what I wanted to do. Be lazy. Do nothing of importance. Organize movies/House marathons, read all the books I wanted to read but never had time, party with friends, learn to cook (!!!). First few days it was great. I'm usually alone at home-- parents working, brother at school until 4PM. All I had to do is to cook dinner, and the rest of the time-- do absolutely nothing. Be as lazy as I wanted to.

Now I want to go back to school, and that freaks me out a little. Because what the hell al I supposed to do with myself for FOUR months?

'Kay, now to the important part. Connected to the previous one, but still.

I downloaded a bunch of House podfics lately. Here be the list and some comments (I am linking to the mp3 versions; if you're looking for audiobook, guess there are somewhere out there):

The Big Blue (author & reader: triedunture ; text here)-- the second podfic I've ever listened to and the first House fic by triedunture I've listened to & read (later). A good one-- no, a great one; it's one of the reasons I like to listen to podfics written&read by the same person, it's like you were in author's head-- the right words are stressed, spoken the way they should be spoken. Oh, and did I mention hot? 'Cause it is hot. As hot as a first time with a dildo can be :3

And Rock and Roll (author: tasha_elizabeth ; reader: triedunture ; text here)-- because I love confused!Wilson and out-of-the-closet!Wilson. And voyeurism. I know this is wrong in many ways, but I'm a fan of voyeurism!fic since I read-- God, can't remember the title, it was something written by nemesishamartia ... ah, got it! A Piece of Wood.

Discovery (authors: nakeno  & recrudescence ; reader: triedunture ; text here)-- it's a pity that there's only one podfic of their work. They're like Mistresses of Teh Smut. Ever been to open_24_hrs ? And, yeah again triedunture 's piece. Not my fault, she's got amazing voice *fans self*.

Love Is A Battlefield (author: starlingthefool ; reader: cadeira ; text here)-- one word: EPIC. I could listen to it a few times in a row (and I did, not so long time ago). The idea, the execution-- my favourite podfic ever. It's just, if I may quote one of the OCs from the fic: "Karaoke as a foreplay?" Really, it has to be epic. (and Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On will never be the same again)

A Modest Proposal (author: ignazwisdom ; reader: wihluta ; text here)-- the very first podfic I've ever listened to. And I read it before listening! It's really long (over 5 hours) but it's worth it. Set in the Tritter arc, goes AU after Merry Little Christmas. It's one of the fics I re-read quite often (re-listen, too)-- the fake-marriage plot, the spot-on voices-- it's perfect. (and hey, the civil-union scene? You can actually hear the bells ringing-- or was it the clock?)

Will post the rest of Teh Bestest Podfics Evar soon. It's not like anybody's waiting for it, I'm actually doing this for myself... whatever.

Oh, and did I mention that I hell at self-loathing? And that LJ hates me? I had to change all LJ-user links to normal links, because it was somehow messing with the LJ-cut. Fail.
